Leather Sofa Care
![]() The Look Of Your Leather Genuine leather is a creation of nature and therefore no two hides are identical. They will vary, as do ourselves, in size and structure. Variation In Shade The dyes and finishes used to create the colour will penetrate differently depending on the grain structure, into particular areas of the hide creating attractive variations. During this process, every attempt is made to obtain consistency, although a slight variation in colour may appear as it takes many hides to produce a suite. This, coupled with the other natural features of the hide, create it's natural beauty. Taking this into consideration colour swatches are provided as a guide only. Modern tanning processes and customer requirements give the leather a soft touch that will always maintain its suppleness. This is quite different from the leather used in the past which was much harder. Creases will naturally develop during the initial usage of your furniture which is to be expected. Natural aspects of the material have been considered and respected during the designing of the product, giving it a soft and inviting look which is one of the many attractions of leather furniture. Natural Beauty Of Leather Leather is unlike any other upholstery material, it has its own unique character and timeless quality. With use, the leather will develop a patina which will enhance it’s natural beauty and as the owner you will grow to appreciate and cherish the qualities of your leather. Try one for yourself and feel the difference. Cleaning In todays modern society our furniture is used far more than that of generations past due to the wide availability and use of home entertainment i.e. Television, video games, DVD etc. Therefore, regular cleaning will prolong and preserve the quality of your leather. Dust your furniture often to avoid grit and grime getting into the pores, which will have an abrasive and damaging effect. Clean with approved leather cleaning products on a regular basis and rejuvenate regularly with only approved rejuvenating products. This will protect your chair and allow for greater durability and longevity of your new leather product. Avoid common cleaning materials, paints, solvents, nail varnish, dyes, felt pens, dyed cloths (use only a colour fast cloth), perspiration grime, body oils, hair creams and gels. IMPORTANT: Take care not to 'over wet' the covering. Treat stains and spillages immediately before they are absorbed into the leather as described above. Natural Body Oils Natural body oils can stain and sometimes discolour leather if allowed to settle into the surface. Particular care is required if the owner is using medication as this can intensify the effects caused by body oils (please refer to cleaning above). Heat & Light DO NOT expose your furniture to direct sunlight or heat sources (i.e. Radiators). Long periods of exposure will result in the fading and drying of your leather. General Care Your furniture item is designed to be sat on comfortably and correctly. Incorrect usage can result in damage and permanent wear. Do not sit on the edge of the cushions or on arms and backs. Avoid contact with sharp objects as these can cause unsightly damage. Take care with toys, buckles, heels and so on. Discourage children from playing and jumping on your furniture. Do not allow domestic pets to clamber or claw at the furniture. Life Cycle Give your leather chair the respect that it deserves, it will probably not last a lifetime but by following the above guidelines it will ensure a prolonged life span. |
